“Hail, rain and sunshine!”
Last weekend, we embarked on a trip to Witchcliffe, a charming town in Western Australia's South West region, where we had the opportunity to explore WA's first fully developed ecovillage. Our aim was to witness a community dedicated to minimizing their environmental impact, going beyond traditional Australian homes. However, our journey was met with challenging weather conditions as rain and hail accompanied us throughout the weekend, creating a true test of our camping abilities.
Reflecting on this trip, we were inspired to share some essential items that can ensure a warm and comfortable experience during such extreme weather:
Insulated Sleeping Bag
Invest in a high-quality, cold-weather sleeping bag that provides excellent insulation and keeps you warm throughout the night. We have the Kings Premium Winter/Summer Sleeping Bag -5 C to +5 C and it works charm!
Layered Clothing
Dress in layers to regulate your body temperature effectively. Opt for moisture-wicking base layers, insulating mid-layers, and a waterproof outer shell. And keep our head, hands and feet warm. And stay dry!
Portable Heater
Consider bringing a portable camping heater to create a warm and cozy atmosphere inside your tent.
Hot Water Bottles
This is my biggest tip, hot water bottles work a charm! Fill up a few hot water bottles before bed to keep your feet warm and provide extra comfort during the night.
Embrace the chill and experience the beauty of winter camping by ensuring you have these essential items. Stay warm, cozy, and make unforgettable memories in the great outdoors!
